The burden of hate

  SOLD OUT!

We are delighted to welcome the American author, commentator and community organiser Sally Kohn to the UK. As a progressive commentator on Fox News and now CNN, Sally Kohn has made a career out of bridging intractable political differences and learning how to talk respectfully with people whose views she disagrees with passionately.

Sally Kohn will be exploring the epidemic of hate all around us - from internet trolls to school bullies, from racist chants to homophobia - and what we can do to repair our humanity.

Joining Sally on stage will be three people who have, in uniquely different ways, been affected by hate and prejudice. Their personal perspectives, which come from both the giving and receiving end of hate, will be shared with Sally as they respond to her lecture.

The evening will be chaired by author, artist, and award-winning filmmaker, Raoul Martinez. Raoul’s debut book Creating Freedom: Power, Control and the Fight for Our Future was published in 2016 to wide critical acclaim, and has been described by writer and comedian, Stephen Fry, as ‘quite magnificent in its intelligence, acuity, scope, human warmth and - most importantly - hope!’

Date: 13 September 2018
Time: 19:00 - 21:00
Venue: The Tabernacle, 35 Powis Square, W11 2AY

The opposite of hate is the beautiful and powerful reality of how we are all fundamentally linked and equal as human beings. The opposite of hate is connection.
