Matthew Findlay
Matthew Findlay has 15 years professional experience in the international affairs field, both as a diplomat and with non-governmental organisations.
He has travelled widely including over 10 years overseas work and study in the United States, Thailand and West Africa. He has a particular interest in developing more effective international responses to conflict and persecution, including support for political reform, human rights and protection of refugees. He also has a background in strategic planning and change management. Matthew is a graduate in Politics, Philosophy & Economics with a Masters in International Relations.
Judy Ironside
Judy Ironside is founder and director of the UK Jewish Film Festival (a registered charity).
The UKJFF is a major national cinematic event that takes place annually, touring across the UK and internationally. Her role involves all fund raising; programming; festival identity and management of staff; Board and Patron relationships. Judy is an ‘ideas person’ which she views as an important aspect of funding, since sustainable funding potential can be enhanced by a high profile project identity. Judy’s Drama Therapy training background has given her a good awareness of people skills and the ability to communicate with a very wide range of people.
Brenda Allanson
Brenda Allanson is Head of Legacy and Major Gift Development UK, at IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare).
She previously worked at the British Legion as Legacy Manager and at The Children’s Society as Legacy Adviser. In the mid ‘90s she was appointed to set up and run the Harrow Crossroads scheme (providing domiciliary respite care) for local residents. Brenda trained to be a solicitor, and in her early career was partner in a medium/large city firm before becoming a sole practitioner for a number of years.
Bernard Trude
Bernard Trude began his career as a surrealist film-maker and lecturer in audio visual design.
He has 17 years senior management experience in the voluntary sector, including 14 years working for international development agencies in the UK, the Caribbean, Central America, Africa and Asia. He has a particular interest in using communication and dialogue to bring about social change, and supporting people who are usually excluded from the decision making which directly affects their lives. Bernard is a graduate in Media & Production Design with a Masters in Voluntary Sector Studies.
Anna Birney
Anna Birney advises and supports on all aspects of TFP’s education programme.
She is the Education Programme Manager at WWF-UK where she enables leaders, from teachers to high-level civil servants, to reconceptulise the purpose of education in the context of sustainability, whilst also implementing this in practice. Previously she ran an Education Dialogue group that contributed to the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development. She is currently undertaking a Postgraduate programme in Action Research at Bath University.
Mark Engelman
Mark advises on intellectual copyright law and negotiates all legal contracts for the project.
Having trained as a research pharmacologist at University College London, Mark became an Intellectual Property litigator with two leading city solicitors’ firms. He was then appointed as the sole in-house counsel to Dunlop Slazenger Intl Ltd, before later becoming Head of Intellectual Property at The Body Shop Intl Plc. He is now a specialist Intellectual Property barrister at Hardwicke Buildings, Lincoln’s Inn. Mark has been a member of the boards of various brand led companies, including the Gucci subsidiary responsible for managing the brand name Alexander McQueen, and is a trustee of The Globe Theatre.
Martyn Evans, Chair
Martyn helps with the communication and marketing of The F Word exhibition.
Martyn Evans has spent his career in public relations and marketing. After several years at large PR agencies, reaching director level, he went to The Body Shop as Head of Media Relations in the United States. In 1998 Martyn set up Origin Communications, a marketing, communications and PR consultancy.
Sara Scott
Sara Scott qualified at the Institute of Group Analysis as a Group Analyst and trained in organisational consultancy at the Tavistock Clinic.
She is formerly the Deputy Director of the Revolving Doors Agency, a leading mental health and criminal justice charity. She now works as a freelance consultant both in the public and private sectors, supporting teams and senior managers wishing to enhance their performance. She works as a staff psychotherapist at the Women’s Therapy Centre and has a private practice.
